LIMA TANGO SURVIVAL

SHELTER

Being safe from the elements is one of the staples of long-term survival. Whether you’re adding a survival shelter to your camping kit or an addition to a bug-out bag, emergency tents can make a huge difference.

We provide several shelters and shelter supplements that will meet all the needs of your outdoor survival kit. In an emergency, shelter should be adaptable to changing weather and environments. Our emergency kits include ponchos, bivvy sacks, hammocks, and sleeping pads to keep you warm and dry.

Because Life’s Tough.

Sleeping

Having a way to retain body heat and sleep safely is essential for surviving outdoors. Using a basic sleeping bag and bivvy as part of your survival shelter system makes sleeping safer and more comfortable.

Our emergency bivvies are high-quality, compact, low-weight sleep systems. They’re made of a combination of waterproof and water-resistant materials. An inner layer helps the bivvy retain body heat more efficiently, reflecting body heat to reduce the risk of hypothermia.

Insect Protection

Hammocks, mosquito nets, and tents allow you to sleep while protecting against insects. Mosquito-borne illnesses range from uncomfortable to deadly, and other biting insects can disturb your rest or cause other chronic diseases. Make sure your emergency tent is securely closed at night. Depending on your area, protection from biting insects can be a life-saving feature.

Blending In

Survival shelters with a realistic camouflage pattern keep a low profile while providing an effective miniature shelter. In urban environments, a plain colored tent will stand out less.

Our tents are easy to set up and offer good ventilation, and weigh 1-4 lbs. Packed tents are practical to transport and roomy enough for one or two people. These pack down to be small and light, so you can easily include them in your emergency backpack.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of survival shelter do I need in my kit?
It depends. Sleep, temperature regulation, and protection from the elements are important considerations in emergencies. Having an emergency tent and sleeping arrangement to keep you warm and safe while you sleep is essential. If you live in an area with lots of biting insects, a secure tent or hammock with a mosquito net is essential to avoid injury or disease. Places with high rainfall need a standard cover to keep rain off of you, but also a way to keep the “floor” and/or your sleeping area dry. A durable, waterproof tent with a barrier between you and the floor can keep the wet out.

How do I pack and store my shelters?
It’s a good idea to shake them out just in case small objects like flashlights are caught inside. Make sure that your tents, bivvys, and/or sleeping bags are clean and dry before rolling and packing. This prevents mildew and mold, and makes your survival shelters last longer. When you open them again, check for any small holes, dirt, wet spots, or other damage that might’ve happened during travel. We stress test our inventory for durability and quality, but you never can be too careful.

What is the minimum I need for shelter in survival situations?
This depends on your location since different environments have different hazards. You need something to sleep in or on, and you need something to keep the rain off. That said, an emergency rain poncho and tent are a good start.Remember that choosing to include or leave out certain supplies is always a trade-off. Carrying a larger shelter means carrying more weight, but going minimalist on shelter can open you up to environmental hazards.
