THE BONE: Two-Man 48 Hour Emergency Kit

THE BONE is an entry-level lightweight get-home or bug-out bag built for a two-person team. Packed in a waterproof 55L PVC rucksack, it provides a baseline emergency load-out covering shelter, hydration, fire, nutrition, first aid, tools, hygiene, lighting, and emergency information.

This 48 hour emergency kit is designed as a starting point, not a replacement for personal planning. Add the food, water, medications, clothing, and other supplies required by the people carrying it and the conditions they expect to face.

Shelter and Protection for Two

Our most lightweight full bug out bag includes a two-man rugged Tyvek heat-reflective shelter in high-visibility orange, along with two heat-reflective blankets and two heat-reflective ponchos.

The 55L waterproof PVC rucksack keeps the equipment together while providing room for personal supplies. The high-visibility shelter, blankets, and ponchos can also make the users easier to spot when signaling rescuers is part of the emergency plan.

Emergency Water, Food, and Fire

THE BONE includes a 1L single-wall stainless canteens with cups, twelve 4 oz MayDay emergency drinking water pouches, and six Aquatabs.

The packaged drinking water totals 48 ounces. The canteens provide reusable water containers, while the Aquatabs provide another water-treatment method when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Add more water based on the needs of both people, your route, climate, and expected access to safe water.

For fire-starting, the lightweight bug out bag includes a ferro striker rod and four pieces of jute fire twine.

The nutrition section contains one MayDay 3,600-calorie emergency ration. Treat it as part of your food supply rather than a complete 48-hour food plan for two people.

First Aid and Field Tools

The first-aid section of this 48-hour emergency kit includes 20 assorted adhesive bandages, a bandage tape roll, one bandage, one tourniquet, 10 alcohol pads, tweezers, six cotton swabs, six safety pins, and medical scissors.

THE BONE also has essential equipment for navigating the wilderness, building shelter in a pinch, and getting food. Our emergency packs are stocked with redundancy, so you always have options when something goes wrong. To keep this bug out bag lightweight, we’ve stocked multi-use and small or light tools without skimping on essentials.

The survival bracelet combines 550 cord, a compass, fire striker, and whistle in one compact piece.

Hygiene, Lighting, and Emergency Information

This two person survival kit includes two toothbrushes, two tubes of toothpaste, two soap bars, two shampoos, two razors, and two hair combs. It also contains a pack of body wipes, four tampons, four sanitary pads, four hand sanitizers, and four insect repellents.

For lighting, THE BONE includes one AA flashlight and two red glow sticks. Add batteries to your lightweight bug out bag if one is not included with your order, as not all emergency kits can ship with batteries. Check the flashlight before storing the kit.

The AM/FM/NOAA radio includes solar, hand-crank, and USB charging. It provides access to AM and FM broadcasts and NOAA weather information when those broadcasts are available in your area.
